Herbal Collar For Dogs Review

I ordered these for my dogs because I wanted to avoid using chemicals on them. They are not as effective as the chemicals, but they are far safer. With a little forethought and some other natural things, it’s possible to keep the dogs comfortable and healthy without dumping pesticides into their little bodies. For the cost, these are wonderful. I would not hesitate to purchase these again in the future.
Herbal Collar For Dogs Feature
Herbal Collar For Dogs Overview
The toxic poisons and insecticides in most commercial flea collars will probably kill fleas and ticks. But who knows what else they do to our pets and our environment? PetGuard was concerned that our pets could be inhaling toxic fumes or become severely irritated by the toxic chemicals in these collars. PetGuard believed that many pet owners purchased these collars out of habit rather than consciously making a decision based on concern over the potential dangers to their pets. So PetGuard created an Herbal Collar that we call a scent collar. We make no claims for this collar other than our herbal collar is safe and it will keep your pet smelling fresh. The herbal oils are impregnated directly into the collar. Whether you choose the collar made for dogs or the collar for cats, be assured that every collar is a natural blend of aromatic herbs, with a fresh minty fragrance and absolutely no harmful chemicals.

good alternative to chemical collars
I ordered these for my dogs because I wanted to avoid using chemicals on them. They are not as effective as the chemicals, but they are far safer. Very bad product. Does not work and made my puppy sick.
bought this product only because it advertised it as natural/herbal and not chemical. True indeed, but the oils they use can be just as harmful, if not worse. I bought this for my two puppies. One of them became sick overnight from an allergic reaction. I also did some research right after and learned that the main ingredient, Pennyroyal Oil, is toxic and can be fatal if ingested. It was also once used as an abortifacient, so I wouldn't recommend pregnant women being exposed to it. You may be wondering if this product works? I asked a veterinarian today if herbal collars work mentioning this brand in particular. He claimed that these collars do not work and are commercialized and a waste of money.
I tried to make a return through Amazon, but unfortunately it is not covered under the return policy. Please look elsewhere...you'll be glad you did.
Other notes: I tried to find other reviews online regarding this product and didn't find too many. I did find two different pet websites with the exact same reviews. Looks like some employee from Petguard is making up reviews for the company to make it look good. Now that is pathetic.
Update 10/23/09:
After telling Amazon about my experience, they refunded my money in full! Thank you Amazon.

Why use chemicals when these work?
These haven't always been easy to find, but I used them for 11 years on my previous dog and cat and they never had fleas. This will be the 2nd year using them on my current dogs. I buy two for each animal for the summer; one for April through June and another for July through October.
